Hola Venky! News

Hola Venky Namaste,

The edit for Hola Venky!, my second feature film has started. I am working with the same editor Shreyas Beltangdy who worked with me on Love, Wrinkle-free. Looking forward to all the challenges that this process throws up. Especially so since this particular film was shot in Canon5d with a 3 member crew, very basic or no lights, and except for the main leads, I have worked with actors who have never worked in films before.

Will be fun, this next 2-3 months. Would like to thank all the friends in US who opened up their homes and heart to us to shoot in, without whom this movie was not possible. I remember telling my friend Giju that we can get this movie done in 10 lakhs and he was taken aback in the beginning, not very sure. But i convinced him, telling him that if he covers the US expenses, I will cover the rest of the cost, by getting in more co-producers. Today I am glad to say that we have managed to get interesting investors onboard. Hola Venky thus becomes a Co-production of like-minded people...:)

Maybe I will write about certain interesting moments during the making of the movie in the subsequent posts...just for fun

Keep supporting always, and thanks

Baddie me

Hey,

Had an interesting weekend where I lost in the finals to a ex-India national player in a Mumbai Indoor Badminton tournament. Had a smooth ride into the Finals defeating 5 players along the way, with the Semis being the toughest. Realised that I have a few areas to work on if I am going to defeat these National level players, present or ex!!! This is the Second Singles tournament this year that I have lost in the Finals. I had lost in the finals of the Mumbai Games where I had lost to a India Junior Player. So now I have got 2 Silver Medals this year:) I am not a big fan of Gold as a metal, but I don't mind winning one of that medal soon...but guess, i will have to work on my weaknesses and come back stronger....plan to do that. Forrest Gump, you are my inspiration:)

Badminton really helps me a lot in my filmmaking career too since that helps me get a perspective about life. Otherwise, too much emphasis on films alone can get boring after a while. The combination of writing for films, directing and badminton, plus of course the other things that I do in life give me a sense of balance, and through this, i hope to find interesting perspectives that I can probably express/explore through my films....Also, it is nice to hang around fellow sports enthusiasts who are more interested in talking about net dribbles and backhand clears than those guys who are constantly talking to you about films and filmmakers.

Thanks and enjoy your day. Meanwhile the edit of my feature film 'Hola Venky" is set to commence soon...we are transferring and syncing the sound etc at the moment. Me and my editor Shreyas are working out a way before we jump into the deep end:)

take care
Sandeep

Finished the First Cut of 'FIN'

Hay Friends,

We have finished the first cut of the short film that I have done which will a part of the Feature Film "X". This is a collaborative film where 11 filmmakers have come together to create one film. My film is called 'Fin" and I shot it in US itself while I was there for the shoot of my indie feature "Hola Venky".

Essentially, we shot the short film in one and a half days. Richa Shukla, an actress from LA, joined us and it was fun. I also doubled up as the cameraman for this short film since the script needed that kinda treatment. It was fun.

Will keep you guys updated about the latest developments on this

Take care and smile
